The itemised quote checklist
A single total tells you almost nothing. A quote you can compare has every item on its own line.
A written quote from a Turkish clinic should list each item separately: the number and brand of implants, abutments, the crowns or bridge and their material, temporary teeth, extractions, bone grafts or sinus lifts with prices if needed, scans and X-rays, medicines, and the package (hotel nights, transfers). It should say whether prices are per tooth, per jaw or for both jaws, and include the guarantee terms. Ask for it after a dentist has seen your X-ray.
The Oral Health Foundation advises asking a clinic abroad for a clear treatment plan and a full breakdown of costs before agreeing to treatment. In practice, many UK patients receive a WhatsApp message with a picture of a smile and a single number. That number cannot be compared with anything. This checklist turns it into something that can.
Before the quote: what to send
- A recent panoramic X-ray (OPG). Your UK dentist can take one, or a private X-ray clinic.
- Clear photos of your teeth: front, both sides, upper and lower.
- A list of your medicines and health conditions.
- What you want: fixed teeth, a better look, fewer gaps.
The lines a quote should have
Implants
- Number of implants, and in which positions.
- Brand and system, by name.
- Price per implant.
- Abutments (the connector between implant and tooth): included or extra?
Teeth on top
- Crowns or bridge: how many units.
- Material: zirconia, E-max, porcelain on metal, acrylic.
- For full arches: titanium bar or not.
- Temporary teeth between trips.
Other treatment
- Extractions: how many, price each.
- Bone graft and sinus lift: whether expected, and price if needed.
- Root canal treatment, fillings, cleaning.
- Veneers: how many, which teeth, material.
Diagnostics and medicines
- CBCT scan, X-rays, photos.
- Antibiotics, painkillers, mouthwash.
- Sedation, if wanted.
Package
- Hotel: which hotel, how many nights, each trip.
- Airport and clinic transfers.
- Translator, if needed.
The words that matter
- Per tooth, per jaw or both jaws? A per-jaw price doubles for a full mouth. Our own All-on-6 price, for example, is for both jaws in total.
- Included or from? “From £X” means the minimum.
- Valid until? Prices often hold for a set time.
And alongside the price
- The name of the dentist who will treat you.
- Number of trips and how long each lasts.
- The guarantee for each treatment. See reading a clinic’s guarantee.
- Deposit amount, how to pay and refund terms. See deposits and paying safely.
Comparing two quotes
Put the quotes side by side, line by line. If one is cheaper, find the line that explains it: fewer implants, a different brand, acrylic instead of zirconia, fewer hotel nights. Our page on cheap vs premium clinics lists the usual reasons. Then show both to a UK dentist.
Common questions
Can a clinic quote without an X-ray?
It can give a rough range. A real plan needs an X-ray, and implants need a scan. Treat a fixed full-mouth price without imaging as provisional.
Should the quote be in pounds?
It helps. If it is in euros, note the exchange rate on the day you pay and whether card charges apply.
What if the quote changes when I arrive?
Some change is normal after the scan. Ask in advance which items might change and their prices, so there are no surprises.
