What happens if your dental clinic closes?

Clinics open, close, merge and rebrand. A guarantee is only as good as the business behind it, so plan for change before you need to.

Short answer

If a clinic closes, its guarantee usually ends with it unless another business takes it over. If it rebrands or changes owner, the new owner may or may not honour old guarantees. Protect yourself by keeping complete records (implant card, scans, treatment summary), checking the clinic’s legal entity on HealthTürkiye, asking who would honour the guarantee if the clinic changed hands, and registering with a UK dentist after treatment.

A lifetime guarantee on an implant is a promise that may need to be kept in twenty years. Few businesses of any kind last that long unchanged. This is not a reason to avoid treatment abroad; it is a reason to plan for the clinic changing while your teeth do not.

Three ways a clinic changes

It rebrands

The same company, a new name. Guarantees usually continue. Check whether the legal name on HealthTürkiye changed too.

It changes owner or merges

A new company takes over. It may honour old guarantees as a goodwill measure, or only those it agreed to take on. Ask.

It closes

A guarantee from a closed business generally cannot be claimed. Your records become essential, because a new dentist will start from them.

Before treatment: questions to ask

  1. Which legal company issues my guarantee? (Compare with the name on HealthTürkiye.)
  2. If you have several branches, can any branch carry out guarantee work?
  3. If the clinic were sold or merged, what would happen to existing guarantees?
  4. How long do you keep patient records, and can I have copies of everything now?

After treatment: protect yourself

  • Keep full records. Implant card, scans, final treatment summary, materials. See the records to bring home.
  • Register with a UK dentist and give them copies. If the clinic disappears, they are your aftercare.
  • Keep your guarantee document and payment receipts together.
  • Save the clinic’s details as they were: legal name, authorisation number, address, the dentist’s name.

Signs a clinic may be in trouble

  • Its HealthTürkiye entry is gone or the address has changed.
  • Messages go unanswered for weeks.
  • The dentist who treated you has left and no one else knows your case.
  • Sudden heavy discounts on new treatment while existing patients wait.

What we do

We re-check every clinic’s Ministry entry at least every three months. If a clinic leaves the list, we remove it from the register. That does not protect a guarantee, but it means the register shows only clinics currently authorised.

Common questions

Will another clinic honour my guarantee?

Only if it agrees to. Guarantees are promises by a particular business. Some groups honour guarantees across branches; independent clinics cannot be made to.

How would I know a clinic has closed?

Its HealthTürkiye entry may disappear, its phone and website may stop working, or its Google listing may be marked as closed.

Is my data safe if a clinic closes?

Clinics have legal duties to keep records. Ask for your own copies at the end of treatment so you do not depend on that.
